Macroeconomic Advisor: Christian Johnson

Christian Johnson, is a Chilean national who joined SARTTAC in April 2021. Previously, he worked at IMF headquarters as Senior Economist in the Western Hemisphere Division of the Institute for Capacity Development (2014-20), where he led macroeconomic training courses, and prior to this was in the Western Hemisphere Department. Christian also worked at the Joint Vienna Institute (2009-11) of the IMF. Earlier in his career, he was Director and full-time Professor for graduate programs in Adolfo Ibanez University, Chile (2002-09). He was also a Senior Economist in the Research Department of the Central Bank of Chile (2000-02) and Head of the International Money Desk (1995-2000). Mr. Johnson holds an M.A. in Economics from Georgetown University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University.
