A set of five virtual courses on Government Finance Statistics for Comptroller and Auditor General of India

November 22 - December 31, 2021

As part of the G-20 Data Gap Initiatives that was designed to assist policymakers in surveilling and managing the global economy, India agreed to begin compiling and disseminating high-frequency GFS and PSDS for a modified general government (budgetary central government (BCG) and state governments). To assist India in achieving this objective SARTTAC has been working with the CAG at a national and state level providing technical assistance and training. As a continuation of this assistance SARTTAC is delivering five virtual government finance statistics (GFS) and public sector debt statistics (PSDS) translation courses from November 22 – December 31, 2021. These courses consist of training to increase CAG officials’ capacity to translate all 28 Indian states’ annual fiscal statistics into the Government Finance Statistics Manual 2014 (GFSM 2014) framework. The course was designed to: (i) provide CAG officials from all of the Indian states with a review of key aspects of the GFS and PSDS frameworks; and (ii) analyze CAG officials’ efforts to translate states’ fiscal statistics for fiscal year (FY) 2020/21 into the GFS and PSDS frameworks using a concordance template that was designed by CAG headquarters and SARTTAC.
