SARTTAC's Mid-Year Steering Committee (SC) Meeting

The IMF South Asia Regional Training and Technical Assistance Center (SARTTAC) held a mid-year Steering Committee (SC) meeting on January 7, 2022, attended by more than 50 officials, including member countries, development partners, and IMF staff. The meeting provided an opportunity to review execution of the FY22 (May 2021-April 2022) workplan and needed adjustments under the guidance of the SC, while also apprising them of current challenges and opportunities in providing capacity development (CD) in South Asia. Clear appreciation was expressed by the countries and partners alike for SARTTAC’s adaptability in delivering training and technical assistance under current circumstances, including its responsive to recent requests for support, notably in areas pertaining to cybersecurity, gender and climate change issues, and macroeconomic forecasting. The SC welcomed new learning opportunities upcoming in SARTTAC and stated plans to proceed to a next phase of operations. Looking ahead, members encouraged SARTTAC to continue to adapt to evolving CD needs and urged a quick transition to hybrid and in-person delivery as soon as condition allow to ensure lasting and durable results. It was agreed to convene the next annual meeting of the SC in mid 2022.
