Seminar on Addressing Climate Change in Asia: What Role for Ministries of Finance and for PFM institutions?

During October 25 - 28, 2021, The IMF South Asia Training and Technical Assistance Center (SARTTAC) and Capacity Development office in Thailand (CDOT) cooperatively organized a Virtual Seminar on Addressing Climate Change in Asia: What Role for Ministries of Finance and for PFM Institutions. The seminar provided an insight into the role, responsibilities and challenges facing the Ministry of Finance and PFM Institutions in implementing and supporting climate change activities. The Seminar, attended by 106 officials and officers from 12 countries in the South and South East Asia region. The seminar kicked off with an insight into fiscal policy and financing. Through successive days, it included methodologies for incorporating green climate change into existing practices, assessing and improving public investment management while recognizing the changing environmental concerns, and insights into managing fiscal risks associated with natural disasters, including those associated with climate change. Countries throughout the region were joined by regional development partners during panel discussions covering their related activities, successes, and challenges.
