Workshop on Strategic Budgeting-Integrating Fiscal Strategy and Policy Analysis with Budget Monitoring and Evaluation

November 22 - 25, 2021, (Virtual)

During November 22 - 25, 2021, The IMF South Asia Training and Technical Assistance Center (SARTTAC) organized a four-day regional training workshop on Strategic Budgeting in continuing SARTTAC’s efforts to familiarize and provide training on improving member countries budget practices. Strategic budgeting is the process of creating a medium-term budget that spans a period of more than one year and supports a long-range vision of an entity. Strategic budgeting was introduced to the region at the inception of SARTTAC and virtual activities during the pandemic have continued to build participants expertise in the process through webinars and workshop for the past 18+ months. The focus of this workshop was to integrate the fiscal strategy and policies into the medium-term budget framework, conduct policy analysis, and monitor the results using program and performance objectives.
