The program is designed for the middle-level officers working in the respective finance divisions of the Indian line ministries.


Course Description

This one-week seminar, presented by the IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD), provides an overview of the various aspects of public financial management and their inter-linkages, as well as how sound PFM contributes to better fiscal management. The seminar covers areas, such as strategic budgeting, medium-term expenditure framework, budget execution and controls, cash management, and fiscal and financial reporting. The seminar will draw on the expertise and experience of the Indian government officials.


Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:

1. Upgrade the basic skills PFM systems and approach to reforming the country financial management systems

2. Appreciate the strengthening the budget and expenditure management in the context of prevailing good practices

3. Enhance their understanding on the importance of PFM reforms for strengthening the country systems

4. Appreciate the role of IMF and SARTTAC  and what the IMF does and why/how it promotes sound PFM
