Course Description
This one-week seminar, presented by the IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD), provides an overview of the various aspects of public financial management and their inter-linkages, as well as how sound PFM contributes to better fiscal management. The seminar covers areas, such as strategic budgeting, medium-term expenditure framework, budget execution and controls, cash management, and fiscal and financial reporting.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants should be able to:
1. Upgrade the basic skills of PFM systems and approach to reforming the country financial management systems.
2. Appreciate the strengthening of the budget and expenditure management in the context of prevailing good practices.
3. Enhance their understanding on the importance of PFM reforms for strengthening the country systems.
4. Appreciate the role of IMF and SARTTAC and what the IMF does and why/how it promotes sound PFM.
5. Lessons to be learnt as takeaways by participants to apply in their countries for strengthening PFM.
